Windover Reunion (Words & Music by Charles Lutz)
April 12, 2007
Rollin’ down an Adirondack highway, goin’ back to a childhood memory, of fishin’ early mornin’, and songs by fire light, O, the mountains and the sunset, what a sight!
Thinkin’ ’bout my family there that’s waiting, and the special gatherin’ that’s drawing near, there’ll be friends not seen in ages; there’ll be new ones yet to meet, and with every winding turn now, my heart beats
O, Windover, you’ve brought us here; O, it’s good to keep in touch ’round each five years; O, Windover, you’ll never change, for the love that has sustained you remains the same, remains the same
In the mornin’ there’s no rush, we’ll all sleep late, and enjoy a country breakfast on China plates, then it’s tennis, games, and swimming, and stunt night in the barn, if the jokes aren’t good the campfire’s sure to warm
O, Windover, you’ve brought us here; O, it’s good to keep in touch ’round each five years; O, Windover, you’ll never change, for the love that has sustained you remains the same, remains the same
Sunday mornin’s when the church bells start to ring, as we gather for a family hymn sing, all the oldies and the good ones, and songs not sung before, as we recall our roots in reverence for the Lord, before the Lord
And as I’m leavin’ down that road, a song falls on my ear, it’s a melody, with a harmony so clear
O, Windover, you’ve brought us here; O, it’s good to keep in touch ’round each five years; O, Windover, you’ll never change, for theĀ One that has sustained you remains the same, remains the same
