Windover CD Lyrics

Date September 6, 2010

Windover  The minute I’m there I can sense it; the pine scent fills up the air.  Excitement grows and my spirit knows that love is everywhere.   We’ve come to be with the family; we’ve come to share the good times; we’ve come to see what we long to see; we’ll miss what we leave behind;  And when the time comes for parting, our hearts will know what we’ve learned; Our lives will sing with the joy you bring until we shall return. Oh, Windover, your song I sing; can you hear it loud, won’t you let it ring?  Laughing in the sun your time’s just begun to shine.  Oh, Windover, your love I’ve known in the Adirondack Mountain home; In the wilderness, in the peacefulness, we will live. The wilderness lives within you; your waters run to the shore.  The rivers flow and the forests grow; they will forevermore.  The pine trees grow on the lakeside.  The birch leaves twinkle like stars.  The mountains hide waters deep and wide; you know just where you are.  (Chorus) Oh, Windover, your spirit sings of the love it has and the joy it brings.   We’re all a part of the family.  We’re all a part of the harmony.  (Chorus)

Windover Reunion  Rollin’ down an Adirondack highway, goin’ back to a childhood memory, of fishin’ early mornin’, and songs by fire light, O, the mountains and the sunset, what a sight! Thinkin’ ’bout my family there that’s waiting, and the special gatherin’ that’s drawing near, there’ll be friends not seen in ages; there’ll be new ones yet to meet, and with every winding turn now, my heart beats.  O, Windover, you’ve brought us here; O, it’s good to keep in touch ’round each five years; O, Windover, you’ll never change, for the love that has sustained you remains the same, remains the same. In the mornin’ there’s no rush, we’ll all sleep late, and enjoy a country breakfast on China plates, then it’s tennis, games, and swimming, and stunt night in the barn, if the jokes aren’t good the campfire’s sure to warm. O, Windover, you’ve brought us here; O, it’s good to keep in touch ’round each five years; O, Windover, you’ll never change, for the love that has sustained you remains the same, remains the same.  Sunday mornin’s when the church bells start to ring, as we gather for a family hymn sing, all the oldies and the good ones, and songs not sung before, as we recall our roots in reverence for the Lord, before the Lord.  And as I’m leavin’ down that road, a song falls on my ear, it’s a melody, with a harmony so clear.  O, Windover, you’ve brought us here; O, it’s good to keep in touch ’round each five years; O, Windover, you’ll never change, for the One that has sustained you remains the same, remains the same.

Calling Us Home  During creation, His Spirit filled the water; He spoke the word and the stars had their birth.  He spoke the word and He made the field flourish; He spoke His words of life everywhere.   He spoke the word and creatures filled the ocean; He spoke the word and the birds took to the air.  He gave the breath of life to a man and his wife, And said take care of the earth.  Now the world’s long since fallen, but the Father is still callin’, Callin’ us home, callin’ us home.He speaks His word and life is still created, And by His word we live and move and breath.  He sends His word and it brings to Him a harvest.  He gives His word a lamp unto our feet.  Now the world’s long since fallen, but the Father is still callin’, Callin’ us home, callin’ us home.  Come home!  The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, Callin’ us home, callin’ us home.  Come home.  O Great Spirit, Heavenly Father, You are love.  You are love and You call us all home.  In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth…And God saw all that He had made, and behold, it was very good…Though the wages of sin be death, yet the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord…The Lord says, “In time I will gather you; in time I will bring you home.” (The Bible: Genesis 1:1; Romans 6:23; Zephaniah 3:20)

Summer to Summer  Many a mile I’ve traveled alone to come to a mountain that I will call home; I’ll stay for the summer - a summer of fun; there’s so much to be done.  Camp is a very special friend, with it I’m satisfied; there is a love that never ends and never says goodbye.  Here in the woods, with valleys and lakes, and days of adventure, the whole camp awakes in watch of the morning so silent and still, with joy these hills will fill.  This is a very special time, a time for us to share, ’round the fire and in our hearts, the Spirit living there.  Though in awhile we leave for a year, summer to summer we come back here, to join in the laughter and all that we’ll do, it makes me want to stay.  You are my very special friends, with you I come alive, we have a love that never ends, and never says goodbye - hi!

He Let Me Know*  Dear Lord, I haven’t a prayer.  I feel I’m lost and I’ll never get there.  (My son, I hear your cry, but don’t you worry, I’m by your side.)  I don’t know which way to go, but He’ll show me the way.  I don’t know what tomorrow will hold, but He’ll keep me safe – He’ll let me know.  Dear Lord, I’m searching my heart to find your paths, but where do I start?  (I know sometimes fear blocks your sight, but I’m the way, the truth, and the life!)I don’t know which way to go, but He’ll show me the way.  I don’t know what tomorrow will hold, but He’ll keep me safe – He’ll let me know.  Now my son, you’re able to stand.  So get a move on, I’ve got your hand.  Dear Lord, thanks for guiding me, I know you’ve shown me the way.  Now I love walkin’ in your light each and every day.  He let me know! Now I know the right way to go! (‘Cause I showed him the way.)  I still don’t know what tomorrow may hold. (But I’ll keep him safe.)  He’ll let me know. He let me know (I let him know)…

Honey#  Honey, come and sit beside me, help me understand all the things we’ve yet to see and share. ‘Cause I don’t know where life will lead us; what will pass our way.  All I pray is that you’re always there.  As we go on together, we’ll live and grow as one.  Increase with each new coming day, our love, we’ve just begun.  Honey, come and sit beside me, help me understand all the things we’ve yet to see and share. ‘Cause I don’t know where life will lead us; what will pass our way.  All I pray is that you’re always there.  As days reveal their treasures, and years their secrets do show, with you alone I’ll carry one, and thus our love will grow.  Honey, come and sit beside me, help me understand all the things we’ve yet to see and share. ‘Cause I don’t know where life will lead us; what will pass our way.  All I pray is that you’re always there.

Place for Me+  Oh, Windover you’re the place for me; way up north where the wind blows cool and free. You’re a haven for my family and me. There’s a cottage nestled by the lake; knotty pine and cedar shake; and a great stone fireplace for heat.   There’s a lake with islands two; this morning trout were jumpin’ and the herons flew.  I just sat and watched it all from my canoe.  Pom Pon started it in ‘28.  Eighty years now make it great; as we gather once again to say, “Thank you.”

Springs of Life (Proverbs 4:20-23 & 3:5-6)**  My son, be attentive to my words, Incline your ears to my sayings, Let them not escape from your sight, Keep them within your heart.  For they are life to him who finds them, And healing to all his flesh, Keep your heart with all diligence, For from it flow the springs of life.  Trust in the Lord with all your heart, Lean not on your own understanding, In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths

Walkin’ with the Memories  Brushin’ off dusty saddle bags; packin’ up and on the trail again.  I always love the times I spend with you; we share a laugh and sing a song or two, and when it’s time to finally say goodbye, I guarantee you’re always on my mind.  I’m walkin’ with the memories you give - happy times, I’m waiting to relive. Travelin’ on, the Lord will guide our path, throughout this life ’til we complete our task, and in the end we’ll finally settle down in happy homes where love is all around, and though our lives become so rearranged, our love’s the same and that can never change.  I’m walkin’ with the memories you give - happy times, I’m waiting to relive.

Windover Dedication  Waves out on the water stir the spirit of the memories and emotions I’ve related to this place.  All the laughter and the great fun playing out beneath the mountains, back in mind all these times have left their trace. It always seems a thrill to travel north up to Windover, in the mountains, that is where her spirit live.  The Adirondacks are the home, and in their quiet I have known the greatest love – it binds all my relatives. So to Windover, I’ll sing this song forever, may your land and soul be ever blessed.  Through the changing seasons and for the same old reasons, we come to see the family and find rest.  Windover may your land be ever blessed. The animals are safe there: the herons and the black bear; we’ve left a place for nature there to grow.  Through the changing seasons and for the same old reasons, we’ve come to see the family we love and know.  Windover, may you spirit ever grow, oh yeah, la, la, la.
